Create a subscriber list and capture form submissions

Organize contacts, add subscribers individually, and collect new subscribers from site forms.

Lists organize the people you email. Each campaign sends to one list, and only active subscribers are eligible to receive it.

Create a list

  1. Open Marketing > Lists in your site's dashboard.
  2. Select New List.
  3. Enter a List Name that helps you recognize its audience, such as “Monthly newsletter.”
  4. If you want new site form submissions added automatically, turn on Capture Form Submissions. Read the form-capture details below before enabling it.
  5. Select Create List.

The Lists page shows each list's active subscriber count and whether form capture is on. Select a list's name, or choose Manage Subscribers from its three-dot menu, to open it.

Add a subscriber individually

  1. Open the list and select Add Subscriber.
  2. Enter the subscriber's Email.
  3. Optionally enter their first and last name.
  4. Select Add Subscriber to save.

Add people who have agreed to receive your marketing emails. If an address is already on the list, it will not be added again. Re-adding an existing address does not update its name or restore an unsubscribed contact.

For multiple contacts, import subscribers from a CSV file.

Capture new site form submissions

When you create a list with Capture Form Submissions enabled, new submissions from forms on that site can add subscribers automatically. The submission must contain an email address the system can identify, and email marketing must be available for the site.

Capture applies across the site's forms; it does not let you select one particular form. If several lists have capture enabled, a qualifying submission is added to each of them. Enable it only when the forms clearly tell visitors they are signing up for your emails.

Capture applies to new submissions. It does not import past form entries. Existing addresses are skipped, including addresses that have unsubscribed from that list.

Read the subscriber details

Inside a list, you can see each contact's email, name, source, status, and subscription date. Sources include Manual, Import, and Form.

  • Active: Eligible to receive campaigns, subject to sending checks.
  • Unsubscribed: Has opted out of this list and is excluded from future sends to it.
  • Bounced: Has been marked as bounced and is excluded from active subscribers.
  • Complained: Has reported an email as spam and is excluded from active subscribers.

The total shown inside a list includes contacts with different statuses, while the Lists page shows active subscribers. Those counts can differ.

Recipients can unsubscribe using the link in a campaign email. The link applies to the list that campaign used.
